Today as we canned peaches we watched the movie "The Lion King."  It's a cute cartoon.

Tonight after work I'm going on a blind date.  My friend at work set me up.  I don't really care to blind date, but, hey, there's always a chance of it being fun.  I've never went on a date with a guy I really knew.  Oh, well!  I enjoy the life I have right now.  I wouldn't mind having a few good guy friends, but even that can be put off.

We sing, talk, and laugh a lot in the raspberries.  It's fun, but gets tiring day after day.  I have an awesome farmer's tan now.  I enjoy being with my parents.  I probably won't be able to do that for many more years.

Well, wish me a nice time on the date.  We are going bowling; I'll fill you in tomorrow.

Thursday, September 14, 1995

Today Dad, Mom, KyVan, and I dropped off raspberries in Salt Lake and then went out for lunch.  It was nice to sit down for a few hours.

It's great to always have things to do!  Life would be boring if we didn't.  I don't think I could ever not have something to do.  There's always something to repair, serve, experience, write, do, etc.!  I'm grateful!

Well, after I get off work I'll drive home from Logan (ZCMI) and help Mom can or whatever.

Although my job at ZCMI is good I can't wait to do something I really can sink my teeth into.

It is so important to take a few minutes each day to study the scriptures and pray.  When life gets too busy and stressful it's hard, but even more essential!  We have to daily remember who we are and why we are!  We must come unto Christ daily and try to become more like Him.

Tuesday, September 12, 1995

A cold has been passed around lately.  I have it now, but must still go on.  We have tomatoes, peaches(20 bushels), pears, raspberries (endless), salsa, and cucumbers to bottle, freeze, and dry.  However, canning is a small thing compared to spending all day picking raspberries (2 acres).  Then we have to sell them.  The yard and house still must be kept up and meals prepared.  Kids have homework and can't help much.  So it falls a lot on Mom!  The poor thing.  She's such a strong person, quick too!  She can do anything and everything.  Like I've said before, I want to be just like her!!!  My dad's super too!  He really thinks things out.  Although neither one of my parents have a degree they are smart and humble.  They study and ask questions of the experts.  Brilliant! The best education never ends.

Sunday, September 10, 1995

Welcome, welcome Sabbath day!  Heavenly Father is there so close to reach out and help us.  I wish I could be more worthy of receiving more guidance from Him.  He loves us so much!  I want to act as He would act and be as He would have me be.

Today is an example of how much He wants us to be happy.  It's simply beautiful!!! The hay and lawn are green.  The flowers in the yard are splendid!  The cloud cover makes all the colors richer, and the temperature is perfect.  Honeyville is a wonderful place!  A train is trumping it's horn in the distance and I can hear a gentle rumble.  Life couldn't be better; however I could and shall be.  After all, I'm a daughter of God and have endless potential.

Saturday, September 9, 1995

Good evening!  It's a sorry sight how many days I miss writing my journal, but when the routine of school starts it will be better.

I bought a book, Walk Tall, You're a Daughter of God.  I'm going to read it tomorrow.  It ought to be inspirational.

Yesterday we went to my cousin, Sherylann's, wedding and reception.  It was nice; she's sweet and good.

Well, work's about over. Tata!!!

Monday, September 4, 1995

Good morning!  It's a beautiful cloud covered one!  On Saturday we had a spectacular fire works show courtesy of Mother Nature (lightening and thunder).

Yesterday we had the Bishop (Mark Bingham) and his wife and Boyd and Mary Bingham family over to visit.  It was nice.  We had popcorn, cookies, and punch while we sat out on the lawn until it became dark.  Then we moved indoors.  We have neighbors or family over or go over nearly every Sunday.  I love it!!!

I might be going bungee jumping tonight.  What fun!!! Let's hope I can!

Today's going to be a great day!  I'm going to try to do my best and add a little sparkle to my life.

Saturday , September 2, 1995

Last night the Honeyville gang came over for a surprise birthday party for Melissa Miller.  It was fun; we played football, jumped on the trampoline, and just did whatever.  It was a lot of fun!  After that we took showers and went to Stacy's to watch a movie.  It wasn't a very good movie.  I'm going to make an extra effort to only watch uplifting, good movies.

I'm so glad tomorrow's Sunday! And Fast Sunday too!  I'm fasting for humility, so I can be ready and worthy to be guided by the Spirit.

If it's of any kind of interest:  It's kind of a trend for boys to bleach their hair.  It turns an awful orange.  I don't like it, but most boys don't do it.

Life's great!  Be your best!

Raspberries are on!  I really enjoy picking them.  I listen to dramatized church and history tapes.  It's rather relaxing!

I have a lot to do before school starts!  I'm getting excited!  But I love right here, right now too!  Summer is the best!!!  All the dis are in school now so it's just Dad, Mom, Kyvan (4), and I most of the day.  It's nice.  I play with and read to KyVan.  We do a lot together!

Today I spent some time working on articles and written pieces that I want to publish.  I probably don't have any chance, but oh, well.  I can try.  Don't judge my writing by my journal.  Time has a lot to do with it.

Well, so long!

Wednesday, August 30, 1995

Mom, Dad, Kami, and I went on a vacation to the northwest.  It was wonderful.  We visited the absolutely beautiful Oregon coast.  I was serene and ever so memorable.  We went to Seattle and went to a public market place where fish, flowers, produce, jelly, etc. were sold.  Interesting!  We visited farms of berries, hops, and corn.  In the city there were tons of people: all different, some very different. There were bands on the corners and beggars who made music.  One with paper cups and one with a puppet who strummed his guitar to the radio music.  I loved to see all the people and all the new things and lifestyles.  It was an absolutely marvelous vacation!

Saturday, August 26, 1995

Greetings from Seattle! Dad, Mom, Kami, and I.....

Monday, August 21, 1995

Today's been quite a run-around.  To the nursing home, to Grandma's, to the dentist, to the bank, to work, and with several trips home in between.

Yesterday we had Hibbard's over for dinner.  It's their last Sunday here in Honeyville.  Uncle Mitch leaves for medical school in California this week.  I will miss them.  It's nice to have family in the same ward.  After dinner my cousin Jeri Moss came for a visit (all night actually).  Then we all went to Bishop Bingham's to visit with Shane who just got off his mission in Guatemala.  When we came home Aunt Myrna and Uncle Mike were there.  We visit a lot on Sundays.  I love it!!!

I love life!!!

P.S.
October 2014 -  In these journal entries I was 17 years old, almost 18.

Sunday, August 20, 1995

Last night we (a lot of friends from Honeyville) played night games at the park.  It was fun!

Thursday, August 17, 1995

What a day!  I've fallen behind on goals and projects; I feel overwhelmed and tired.

On Tuesday Mom, Kami, Eva Anne, and I went school shopping in Ogden.  It was fun to get away with them for awhile.

For Mom's birthday I'm getting her a framed mirror with a picture in the middle.  I'm going to write her a poem too or something nice.

I need to start saving money and being more careful with what I have.

Today I just feel tired and weak, perhaps, I'm fighting a cold.

Write to ya later!!!

Tuesday, August 15, 1995

Good morning!  My hands are so cold I can hardly write.  Kami and I have been out picking raspberries for breakfast.  Everything's a lot better today.  I think it's just that time of the month that makes it more difficult to maintain a positive attitude.

Today Mom's making green grape/7Up ice cream.  Weird!  She got the recipe out a newspaper where it had won first prize in a contest.  I ought to be interesting anyway.

It's going to be a great day today!  I'm going to read to Eva Anne and KyVan today, study nursing, and do all the other things on my list on the opposite page.

I want to increase my faith in Jesus Christ.  To be like Him will bring true happiness.

Well, Kami and I are about to go on a walk this beautiful, crisp morning.  Honeyville is a beautiful, dear place!

Monday, August 14, 1995

Aloha!!! Yesterday I went to Provo with my cousin, Jerry.  It was okay.

I don't know why but I've been in a bit of contention with my family today.  I can't do that.  I need to show my family my love for them and not fight with them.  I need to have the Spirit with me and that can't be if I let my pride get the best of me.

I've been cleaning my bedroom today.  I'm totally going through it and organizing it so I can save time and stress.

Right now I'm just sitting on a bench in the mall while I'm on my break.

Life's good, but sometimes it's hard when you don't have the right perspective.

I need to do, my scripture studying for the day and maybe that will help me feel better about things and think clearly.

Saturday, August 12, 1995

Last night I took Eva Anne and Kaleb, my little brother and sister, to a movie, "Babe."  It was cute and we had fun together.

Afterwards, I went to a friends' house, Sheralyn and Ruth Ann's, to watch a movie.  It was okay.

I got home around 11:30pm.  I went out with Mom, because she was irrigating.  What a woman!! She can do anything.  We splashed through the hay field under a full moon.  Earlier in the day she was fixing the kitchen disposal and plumbing.  She teaches homeschool, decorates and paints our home, cooks wonderfully and inexpensively, sews whatever, masters finances, conducts the ward choir, tackles family history, and anything else that needs to be done.  She is wise, happy, humble, intelligent, grateful, and the best.  I want to be just like her.  I love her very much!

Today I've been fasting.  I get confused and have weird thoughts enter my head once in awhile.  I need Heavenly Father to bless me with His Spirit and help me strengthen my testimony.  Mom says she too goes through times where she feels at a distance from Heavenly Father.  I so want to have a close relationship with Him.  I want to be pure and righteous to the very center of my soul.

Thursday, August 10, 1995

It's a beautiful day!!!  However, I have pretty much the same schedule as I had yesterday, but a bit shorter.

I'm teaching Alla how to drive.  In the Ukraine she can't.  It's scary to not be in control of the car.  She so awesome, funny, and intelligent.  She's taught me how to avoid being robbed or raped in the Ukraine.  It's sounds like a scary, wicked place.  Just the same, I'm interested in different places and people.

Yesterday my car ran out of coolant on the way to the nursing home, so it stalled.  That can ruin the engine; I was so worried.  I called Mom and she came to help us (Alla & me).  Lots of people stopped and asked if they could help us.  They're nice!  Alla said people in the Ukraine and Russia don't stop to help for fear it's a trap to be robbed or shot.  That's pretty sad!

The world is a wicked place.  The only way to have true peace is inner peace that comes through faith in Christ.

Wednesday, August 9, 1995

Hello!  I'm at work.  See how convenient it is to use this for my journal.  I don't have to carry a separate book.  Right after work (at ZCMI) I go to the nursing home to do a clinical.  I enjoy helping the elderly.  I've been reading the gospels as of late and Christ served the sick and afflicted endlessly.  I want to emulate Him.

Maybe I should describe what I do at work.  I work in the expensive women's clothing area.  I straighten clothes, help customers, ring up purchases, and do a lot of standing at the counter attempting to look beautiful.  Actually, I use this standing time to do things like this, plan my day, write letters, read articles, and chat with other employees.  I have made some dear friends here.

Only about 4 months until Christmas.  I need to get working on gifts.  I want to do something unique and Christlike, because after all it is in honor of His birthday.  I'll let you know what I decide.

Be happy and smile!

Tuesday, August 8, 1995

I'm going to become a cheapskate and use this part of my planner as a journal.  I must gather all my journals I've written throughout the years and put them in a safe place.  This way you can kind of see what I do each day.

Today I rode our horses for awhile.  I enjoyed doing that with our family.

We practically kicked Mom and Aunt Lorie out of the house today to go to the temple.  They want to go, but no time.  But we took care of that.  I can't wait until I can go.

I feel like I've gained more spiritually lately.  Heavenly Father loves us so much.
Alla is my friend from the Ukraine.  She's in my nurse's aide class.  She's teaching me a bit of Russian.  She's taught me a lot about culture and the Church over there.  She's LDS (a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) too!  She's also teaching me how to care for my hair.  She's a stylist.

June 12, 1995

Good morning!!! I'm so glad summer finally decided to come.  I ought to get a tan while I'm weeding the gardens today.

I'm going to finish my scripture entry that I started at the end of my last journal.

(Alma 37:6&7, 32-47)  I need to humble myself before Heavenly Father.  I need to care about what He thinks and not about what other people think or compare myself with others--that's pride!  I need to increase my faith and knowledge about Christ.  I need to repent more often and sincerely.  I need to be enthusiastic about working on and for a good cause.  I need to learn right now how to be guided by the Spirit.  Surely, this would teach me wisdom.  I need to keep a prayer in my heart and a question:  "What would He have me do?"  I need to look to the word of Christ as my source of direction in the wilderness of life.

I'm going on a date this Friday.  It's a set up, but he sounded really nice on the phone.

I'm so excited that it's summer.  I have time now to help with chores, practice the piano, write, play, and study the scriptures more.  I love life!!!

(2 Nephi 28:30&31)  I see I have a whole lifetime to learn.  I must be patient with myself.  I can't learn or do it all today.  It just doesn't work that way.  I need to put my trust in the Lord and do my best--each day becoming a little better.  Repenting when I slip then pressing steadfastly onward!

To-Do List for that day:
scripture time
workout/tone
journal (buy a new one!)
clean bedroom
clean bathroom
meal prep.
weed flower garden
summer goals
ZCMI
piano/voice
writing
book report
clear car
